April 29, 2009 PD Advisory-Electronic Proposal Submission

Over the past few months, electronic proposal submission systems, such as Grants.gov. (used by NSF, NIH, U.S. Department of Education and other agencies), have presented increasing challenges for Research and Sponsored Programs. We anticipate these problems will continue and in fact, will be exacerbated by the increase in submission activity resulting from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

RESP staff need adequate time to review and secure campus approvals of proposals before submission. This is particularly critical in the case of electronic submissions, where a variety of technical difficulties can arise. NIH is recommending early submissions (2-3 days before the published deadline) whenever possible.

Please contact your RESP development specialist as soon as you have identified a funding opportunity that will be submitted electronically.
