Dr. Kevin Kelley

Kevin M. Kelley, Ph.D.

Interim Associate Vice President of Research

Appointed 1 July, 2015

Prior to arriving at CSU Chico, Dr. Kelley served as Associate Dean for Research and was a Professor in Biological Sciences at CSU Long Beach.  Dr. Kelley earned his Ph.D., Master’s and Baccalaureate degrees at the University of California at Berkeley, specializing in endocrinology and physiology.  As a faculty member at Long Beach, he directed the Environmental Endocrinology Laboratory for two decades that generated more than 50 research articles, 30 other publications, and over 250 invited lectures and conference papers.  Dr. Kelley also served on a variety of federal panels, including for the National Science Foundation and United States Department of Agriculture, and in professional society leadership positions.  He mentored 33 graduate and 80 undergraduate students in endocrinology research.

As Associate Dean at CSULB, Dr. Kelley earned a reputation as an ardent advocate for the role of research at the university, important in fostering faculty excellence and outstanding educational opportunities for students.  His work over the past two years fostered more than $35 million in programmatic and research funding to advance faculty research capacity, improve infrastructure to foster cutting-edge research, and enable student research education and training.

At CSU Chico, Dr. Kelley and the outstanding professional team at RESP are emphasizing the growth of faculty research programs, scholarly, and creative activities, through enhancing faculty support and facilitation of research, strategic planning for development of research infrastructure, and student participation in the “high impact practice” of engaging in research and creative activities.
