My academic and teaching interests are in religious and moral development,
religious ethics and global issues, and philosophy of education. From living
a number of years abroad, in Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Japan, I carry a particular
interest in Asian religions , in the encounter of Eastern and Western religious
traditions, and in the challenges facing religiously pluralistic societies.
As a result, my teaching seeks to present religious studies as an important
contributor to liberal and civic education, and the study of religion as a
resource for approaching contemporary social issues. My teaching responsibilities
include RS 182 World Religions and Global Issues, and RS 55/155 Learning and
Values, among other courses.
