My research interests are in the area of cultural diffusion, primarily the
emergence, diffusion and impact of certain religious concepts which are deeply
embedded among the plethora of ethnic groups around the Ancient Near East.
My current research and writing on the Hebrew Scriptures/Old Testament focuses
on the ninth century BCE Omrid Dynasty of Israel, and its role as a possible
conduit for certain religious ideas from contiguous Transjordanian, Syrian;and
other Levantine power structures which, under Yahwistic influence, were subsequently
transformed and subjected to further development in both the Northern Kingdom
of Israel as well as the Southern kingdom of Judah.
