George M. Williams completed 33 years of teaching Asian religions at CSUC
and retired in 2002. Since retiring he has devoted himself to full-time research
and writing. Recently, completed two books: one on Hindu mythology and a second
on the indigenous religion of Japan , Shintô. Williams work on interfaith
dialogue and cooperation among the world's living religions brought two honorary
doctorates: one from a seminary of the Graduate Theological Union at Berkeley
and another from the United Seminary of Koloszvar, Romania . In 2003 Williams
taught as Visiting Professor of Religious Studies with the University of Pittsburgh's
Semester at Sea, a travel-study program with 600 students and 25 nationally-recognized
faculty that circles the globe while completing a full semester of study.
