University Posting Policy

Publicity items may only be posted on bulletin boards labeled "Student Bulletin Board." (ONLY ONE POSTER PER EVENT MAY APPEAR ON EACH BOARD OR KIOSK!) Violation of this policy is a misdemeanor pursuant to the California Education Code and may result in the loss of your posting privileges.

  • All publicity appearing on bulletin boards must be stamped at the University Information Center in the Bell Memorial Union. Extensions may be granted by the Student Activities Office for official university business only. All posted material must be stamped.
  • Posters are to be no larger than 11" x 17" and must contain the name and contact information (phone number, e-mail address and/or postal address) of the sponsoring group (or individual) visibly on the poster. The event, time, place, and cost/price/donation (when applicable), must also be stated. Student bulletin boards are checked at the discretion of the Student Activities Office and will be cleared each Friday.
  • Only one poster is allowed per board or kiosk, regardless of board size.
  • Posting over or removing existing material is not allowed.

139 TOTAL BOARDS

* Due to the limited size or high traffic of these boards, they will be cleared each week of all materials including those that have been approved for extensions

In addition to the above locations, each of the campus residence halls has bulletin boards for posting. Information regarding the use of these boards may be obtained at the information desk in each of the residence halls.

Posting is not permitted in the areas other than designated student bulletin boards and kiosks (therefore walls, windows, trees, light posts, park benches, building label signs, car windows, etc. are not appropriate posting places).

Any sponsoring organization which violates these policies will have any posted material removed and is thereby open to the application of sanctions:

  1. exclusion from use of university publicity outlets
  2. denial of university facilities and equipment
  3. denial of university recognition
