Giving to the Department
Give to the Department of Science Education
Your generosity has a huge impact on our students, faculty and programs. A gift may be large or small, unrestricted in purpose, or specifically designated to a special initiative. Here are some of the many ways you can help.
Science Education Student Fund
We established this fund to honor our first graduates from the BA in Natural Sciences. Any gifts to this fund directly benefit our students through awards, scholarships, stipends, or other initiatives that enhance our students’ academic experiences.
Discipline-Based Education Research
Our department has been instrumental in bringing together faculty and students from across campus to discuss the latest research on teaching and learning. We would deeply appreciate any gifts to help support our afternoon “teas” – to pay for refreshments or to invite notable speakers from other institutions to share their work.
See below for a few of our recent seminars.
Our Big Dreams
We are seeking major gifts or endowment funds to sponsor some of our big dreams for the future. These include (1) establishing a Learning Assistant Program (see http://laprogram.colorado.edu/) in which future science teachers on our campus would receive training and support to facilitate small group interactions in large-enrollment science courses or in studio labs, (2) building a Science Education Wing in the new Physical Sciences building that might include a resource library for local teachers, dedicated staff, faculty offices, stockroom, field trip space, and undergraduate studio classrooms, and (3) funding an endowed professor of science education.
