Introduction to the Class Schedule

Register on the Portal

What's New about the Catalog, Class Schedule, and Registration

Fees Subject to Change: The CSU makes every effort to keep student costs to a minimum. Fees listed in published schedules or student accounts may need to be increased when public funding is inadequate. Therefore, CSU must reserve the right, even after initial fee payments are made, to increase or modify any listed fees, without notice, until the date when instruction for a particular semester or quarter has begun. All CSU listed fees should be regarded as estimates that are subject to change upon approval by The Board of Trustees.

Course Registration Waitlisting: As of Spring 2010, Chico State is using course registration waitlisting. If a class is full, you can place yourself on a wait list for any seats that may become available, and you can monitor your position in the wait list through your Portal account. Please refer to the Student Records and Registration Waitlisting FAQ for full details on how the system works.

Change of Program (COP) Process Change: In Spring 2010, the Change of Program (COP) process was replaced by the Class Add and Drop Request Process. The COP form, which was used for both class adds and drops, no longer exists. There is now a Class Add/Update Request Form pdf download and a Class Drop Request Form pdf download.

Important University Policies & Notices

California State University, Chico considers e-mail to be the essential method for communicating official University business with students. Each student is provided with a campus WildcatMail account as part of your Portal account. We strongly urge you to review the contents of your WildcatMail account on a frequent and regular basis. Official notifications from the University related to enrollment, academic status, fees, holds, and financial aid will be sent only to your WildcatMail account. If you do not want to examine your WildcatMail account on a regular basis, you can adjust that account to forward messages to another e-mail address which you do check frequently. For more information about forwarding your e-mail visit www.csuchico.edu/stcp/email/forward.shtml.

Failure to comply with this requirement will result in a hold being placed on your academic record. For information regarding how you may obtain these immunizations, please visit the Student Health Center or call 530-898-5241.

You are required to provide the University with emergency contact information. Update your Emergency Contact in your Portal as soon as possible. Registration is done through your Portal account with first access on your priority appointment day based on class level and then first come, first served thereafter. New students will be provided with advising and registration access during your Summer Orientation session. Continuing students should go to your major department advisor or, if undeclared, the Advising Office in SSC 120 to plan your course of study, and then register for classes.

You will be given a specific priority appointment day on which you may first enter the Portal registration system. New freshman or transfer students will be sent an invitation to register approximately one week prior to the new/transfer student registration period. The invitation to register will include instructions on how to retrieve your student ID number so that you may activate your Portal account, as well as specific registration and fee payment information.
