Sale of Semester Permits

General parking permits for the semester go on sale beginning the Wednesday before classes start. On the first day, they are sold from 8 a.m. until noon in the BMU Auditorium. After the first day, they are sold in the Cashiering Office, Student Services Center 230, until they are sold out.

While on sale at the BMU Auditorium, payment by check is strongly preferred, but we also accept MasterCard and Visa credit cards; sorry, no cash.

Parking permits for on-campus housing residents are distributed on a lottery basis.  In early July, information regarding the lottery is sent via e-mail to the student.  The lottery "winners" can purchase their permit starting on their move-in date.  All permits not purchased by Friday at the close of business will be opened up for sale to all other on-campus housing residents beginning Monday, the first day of the semester. 

No more than two permits can be purchased by one person at a time. Please have your student or employee identification number and vehicle information, including license plate number, available at the time of purchase.

There is limited parking on campus and permits may sell out the first day they are placed on sale. All decals are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cost of Permits

Effective Fall 2009, the cost of CSU, Chico parking permits are as follows:

General – student (fall & spring semesters), $84.00/semester
General – staff/faculty (fall & spring semesters), $72.00/semester

Motorcycle – student (fall & spring semesters), $19.00/semester
Motorcycle – staff/faculty (fall & spring semesters), $18.00/semester

On-campus housing residents (fall & spring semesters only), $97.00/semester

General – student (summer), $56.00
General – staff/faculty (summer), $48.00

Motorcycle – student (summer), $13.00
Motorcycle – staff/faculty (summer), $12.00

Faculty/Staff (F/S) – calendar year, $21.33/month*
Faculty/Staff (F/S) – academic, $16.00/month*

Reserved (R, R1, R2, R3, R4, and R5) – calendar year, $45.56/month*
Reserved (R, R1, R2, R3, R4, and R5) – academic, $39.67/month*

*Faculty/staff and reserved permits are paid via payroll deduction. The deductions are spread over nine pay periods each academic year, September through May.

Refunds

General (G), and On-campus Housing (A and B) Permits

  • 1st – 30th day of the semester: 75% of original cost
  • 31st – 60th day of the semester: 50% of original cost
  • 61st – 90th day of the semester: 25% of original cost
  • 91st day and beyond: No refund

To receive a refund for one of the above listed permits, return the parking permit to Student Financial Services, Student Services Center 230 and a check will be mailed to you.

Faculty/Staff and Reserved Permits

Payroll deductions for parking permits returned by the last business day prior to the tenth day of the calendar month will cease in that month’s pay period. No refund will be allowed for any partial month of parking privileges. If qualified, a refund will be calculated and a check mailed to you.

Parking regulations and frequently asked questions are published and enforced by the University Police. Parking of automobiles and motorcycles is authorized in campus-designated lots by permit only.
