What is Derby Days?
The mission of Derby Days is easily stated: to serve the community.
Since the birth of our Fraternity, Sigma Chis have endeavored to give back to
our world. It affords our chapter the opportunity to have a positive
impact on the community and to serve others. Derby Days is a week of
"focused community servicing," and also a great opportunity to meet
new people.
Sigma Chi Derby events are held to assist a number of charitable causes. The proceeds from the event are allocated between local charities and the Children's Miracle Network. CMN is a non-profit organization whose mission is to generate funds and raise awareness programs to benefit children and their affiliated hospitals. Since Sigma Chi began raising money for charitable causes, the Fraternity has raised over $2 million for these groups. Last year between all Sigma Chi chapters we raised over $500,000 for CMN hospitals.
Participating in Derby Days
In the past, sororities have been the main participants and supporters of
Sigma Chi Derby Days. It is our goal this year to expand participation and
involve new groups and non-Greek organizations. Since Derby Days is such a
great way to have a positive impact on the community and give something back, we
feel that anyone that is interested in participating should be afforded the
opportunity to do so. If your group or organization would like to take part
in this year's Derby Days please contact our Derby Days Chairman Justin Kabalin at jkabalin@mail.csuchico.edu.
