Slow Food, Chico State
About Us
Slow Food Chico State is a new student organization and chapter of Slow Food USA that focuses on getting students involved in campus, community, national, and international events and projects relating to food and sustainability.
We held our inaugural meeting in November 2007, and in December we received a grant for the creation of this Web site from the Associated Students Sustainability Fund. This Web site endeavors to connect students with North State community members and food producers, while serving as a clearinghouse of information on subjects related to food and sustainability both on campus and in the North State.
As a fledgling organization we are open to new ideas, especially those that allow us to collaborate with other organizations both on campus and in the community. Some projects planned for this summer and fall include
- Interviews with local farmers.
- Attending the Slow Food Nation conference.
- Creating a video podcast of a local food sustainability project.
- Sponsoring local Girl Scouts in earning a food related badge.

Slow Food Chico State is affiliated with the North State nonprofit conviviuum, Slow Food Shasta Cascade.
