Collaborative Professional Development (CPD) Project in Rural California Schools

What is CPD?

The CPD project responds to the dramatic need to improve learning opportunities and educational outcomes for underserved students, specifically English Learners (ELs), in the STEM area of Science, within the Butte County rural education region of northeastern California.

Goal 1:

Provide a collaborative professional development model that fosters site-based leadership in the Butte County rural area.

Goal 2:

Provide professional development for bilingual elementary and secondary pre-service teachers from underserved groups, paraprofessionals and in-service teachers (grades 4th-9th) designed to:

  • Better serve ELs
  • Implement inquiry-based instruction in the STEM discipline of Science Integrate English Language Arts (ELA) Common Core Standards and English Language Development (ELD) Standards
  • Make data-based instructional decisions to improve student learning outcomes

Pre-service teachers

In-service teachers

  • Stipends
  • Substitute Reimbursement
  • Professional development in Science, California Common Core Standards, and California ELD standards

Paraprofessionals

  • Stipends
  • Substitute Reimbursement
  • Professional development in Science, California Common Core Standards, and California ELD standards

CPD Qualifications and Applications

Pre-service teachers

  • Bilingual
  • Currently enrolled in the CSU, Chico Bilingual/Crosscultural Pathway Credential Program

                        Complete the Pre-Service Teacher Application here

In-service teachers

  • Must be a Science or ELD Teacher
  • Teach in grades 4th-9th
  • Site based teams will be given preference

Paraprofessionals             

  • Teach in grades 4th-9th
  • Site based teams will be given preference

                        Complete the Paraprofessional Application here

2014-2016 candidates will be notified of their acceptance status
 by email after all application materials are received.
