School of Education Semiannual Recognition Ceremony Honoring Teacher Candidates and Cooperating Public School Teachers

History

The School of Education began sponsoring the semiannual Recognition Ceremony as a way to honor credential candidates as well as celebrate their accomplishments in completing a rigorous Multiple Subject, Single Subject, Special Education, and/or Bilingual teacher preparation program. We also wanted to acknowledge and thank the cooperating teachers for welcoming our candidates into their classrooms and partnering in preparing quality teachers for California’s schools.

Dates

For the 2008/2009 academic year, the Recognition Ceremonies will be held as follows:
Fall ceremony-Thursday, December 18, 2008 (no tickets required)
Spring ceremony-Thursday, May 21, 2009 (tickets required-see below)

Time

Doors open to public 6:00 P.M.. (credential candidates lineup with their program cadre)
Program begins 6:30 P.M.
Program ends approximately 8 P.M.

Laxson Auditorium

Attendees

All students completing credential programs are invited to attend the ceremony. Local cooperating teachers, administrators, CSU, Chico faculty and staff, as well as family members and friends will fill Laxson Auditorium.

Tickets

The fall ceremony has fewer credential candidates completing credential programs and therefore no tickets are required for admittance to the ceremony, all candidates and guests are welcome.

The spring ceremony is the larger of the two ceremonies and all guests, including cooperating teachers, are required to have a ticket. Department offices will distribute tickets (usually 4 or 5) to each credential candidate completing a program.
