Spring Staff Academic Award Application Period Is Now Open

Chico State Staff Members Can Apply for the Bi-Annual $500 Award to Help Further Their Education!

The purpose of the Staff Academic Award is to assist a CSU, Chico staff employee in furthering his or her educational goals. There is one $500 award available, sponsored by Chico State Administration. The award is available to a staff employee meeting the eligibility criteria. The award recipient will be announced in April 2017.

 

To be eligible, applicants MUST be (1) Currently employed on a half-time or greater basis as a staff* member of CSU, Chico, the Associated Students or the Research Foundation, and (2) Attending or planning to attend an accredited institution of higher education and enrolled in classes for the semester in which he or she is applying. 

 

The following are not eligible: Student employees, MPPs, faculty, current members of the Staff Council Executive Committee, current members of the Staff Council Staff Academic Award Review Committee, and recipients of a Staff Academic Award within the past 24 months.

 

Staff Academic Award Applications will be accepted March 1st – March 30th, 2017. The deadline is Thursday, March 30th, 2017 at noon.  Completed applications can be sent to the Staff Council Office, Sierra Hall Annex, zip 160. Questions about the Staff Academic Awards may be directed to Staff Recognition Chair, Erin Tarabini or x5195.

 

*Definition of “Staff” employee is defined by Title 5, 42700, page 540 (o).   “Nonacademic employees" means an employee who provides non-instructional and non-administrative supporting services such as secretarial, clerical, and maintenance services. A nonacademic employee may have lead responsibility, but normally does not have responsibility for major decisions. Higher academic degrees are not an essential qualification for service as a nonacademic employee.
