The Purpose of Web Security
The purpose of Web security is to restrict access to editing the site. Changing the site constantly will lead to chaos and reflect poorly on the professional quality of the site and STC members. Access to the site should always have the approval of officers. Officers should control the development of Web site changes and they should inform each other of such changes, always acting in good faith toward each others as elected representatives of the organization.
Access Protocols
We need to establish protocols for granting authority to change the Web site in the future. Obviously, elected officers need to manage elements of the site when doing so is part of their duties. Committee members may need access as well. The following is a suggested list of persons to grant site access to:
- Site Webmaster
- President and/or executive committee members
- Vice President In-Charge Administration
- Vice President In-Charge Correspondence
- Vice President In-Charge of the Treasury
- Vice President In-Charge of Website Security
- Vice President Members-at-Large
- Committee members who work directly with Vice Presidents editing the Web site

Plans for Web Site Security
In the future, the Chico Chapter STC organization needs a Webmaster/Web Security Officer written into the constitution.
Linking a simple password query box to the STC logo image may take some time, but it is possible to restrict access to pages that need frequent editing. Go to the Image Page for a short explaination of logo use in levels of security access.
We are getting some positive feedback about the site, but review and revision is part of a Website's life cycle. Please feel free to contribute your ideas. A site review form is available. (See the test develpment page "Site Review Form.")
