Dreamweaver 4.0 Tutorial
Part 4-Publishing a Site
How to Publish Your Site
After you build your document pages, you can publish your Web site on local or remote servers for others to view. Before you publish your Web site you will want to test it locally and then transfer the files to a remote server to test it again.
There are several methods to test your Web site before publishing.
Preview your pages in Dreamweaver 4.0 to analyze the page design and test interactive elements like rollover images, Flash objects and links.
Use commands to change and check links in your site.
You can request site reports to detect broken links and discover site problems.
Transfer your Web site to a remote server to test it using Dreamweaver 4.0's FTP command. The transfer duplicates the local files to a remote server. You can then locate and update the remote server after editing the Web site files on your local drive.
