Position Availability

Student Computing accepts applications throughout the year, regardless of whether we are currently hiring or not. Applicants will be notified by email when their application is received. If Student Computing wants to interview an applicant, they will be notified by email or by phone. We employ students as Help Desk Assistants, Remote Access Technicians, ResNet Computer Consultants, and Assistive Technology Center Technicians.

Work Study Preference

While it is not a requirement for employment, students with available Work Study funds are currently given priority for interviews and employment. If hiring needs cannot be fulfilled from the pool of applicants with Work Study, non-Work Study applicants will be considered in the order in which their applications were receieved.

Application Process

In order to be considered for a position with Student Computing or ResNet, you must first go through the application process. The following steps must be completed:

  1. Download the Student Computing Lab Assistant Employment Application. The application is in PDF format.
  2. Complete the application. Some of the information can be typed in to the PDF form and then printed. All sections of the application must be filled out.
  3. On the employment questionnaire, please evaluate your skills carefully. Do not rate your skills higher or lower than you feel they actually are. Your skills will be evaluated by Student Computing staff if you are called for an interview.
  4. Read and sign the Minimum Unit Requirement form, and also the Work Study Requirement form if you have Work Study funds.
  5. Complete the Student Schedule page to the best of your ability.
  6. Submit the completed forms to the Help Desk Coordinator in MLIB 114. Be sure that all required materials are attached to the application. Applicants will be contacted by email or phone for job interviews as needs arise.

Work Hours

Work hours are arranged to be compatible with each student's class schedule during the semester and will not exceed 20 hours per week (minimum 10 hours per week) during the semester.
