Because technology and computer use are an important part of your education at CSU Chico, we recommend that all students own their own computer.

Recommended Computer Configurations

Note: your computer may still work if it does not meet our minimum hardware requirements, but our testing has shown that these minimum requirements are needed to get "usable" performance.

To be effective, your computer should meet some minimum specifications:

Processor Speed2.0 GHz (PC) or 1.5 GHz (Mac)

CD/DVD DriveAny of these: CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-R

WirelessLaptops: 802.11b/g; Desktops: not required
** Requirements for systems running Vista may be higher

Internet Connectivity:
  • Residents of all on-campus residence halls get high-speed Internet access via ResNet.
  • Wildcat Dial-up, a 56k dial-up modem service, is available to students living off campus. Call CNS for more info.
