Configuring Netscape Messenger 7 to Retrieve Your Wildcat Mail

Overview

This document shows users how to:

  1. Retrieve WildcatMail with Netscape Messenger 7

Creating a new e-mail account

1. Open Netscape

2. Click on Window -> Mail & Newsgroups

 

3. Click Edit -> Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings

 

4. Click Add Account

 

5. Check Email account and click Next

 

6. Type in your name and email address then click Next

Replace 'portal_login' with your portal login
Replace 'your_name' with your first and last name

 

7. Click IMAP, type in mail.csuchico.edu and click Next

 

8. Click Next

 

Click Next

 

Click Finish

 

Click Server Settings, check Use secure connection (SSL)

 

Click Outgoing Server (SMTP), type in your ISP's outgoing server for Server Name, click NO for Use secure connection, and click OK

You will need to know the name of your internet service provider's (ISP) outgoing mail server in order to send mail from Netscape Messanger. If you don't know what your ISP's outgoing mail server is you will need to contact your ISP or visit their web site.

Replace "ISP's_outgoing_server" with your ISP's outgoing server

 

Click Get Msgs

 

Type in your portal password, check Use Password Manager to remember this password and click OK

 

Click OK

 

You should now see a screen similar to this one
