It is strongly recommended that you set up Internet access from your off-campus computer. Internet access will enable you to use email, do research on the web, access library electronic resources, and participate in the online activities required for many courses. There are a number of ways to set up Internet access from your off-campus computer:

High Speed Access

  • ResNet
If you will be staying in the Residence Halls or other off-campus housing with ResNet connectivity, you will have high speed (max. 10mb/sec) Internet access.
  • On-campus Wireless
If you own a laptop, you can access the WildcatWireless service free of charge when you are on campus. For instructions, see our Wireless Instructions page.

Modem Access

  • Wildcat Dial-up
CASV offers unlimited modem access (56k max) to CSU, Chico students through Wildcat Dial-up. Contact CASV at 898-6868 or see the CASV home page for more information. You will need to have an active Portal account and configure your computer (see software section below).
  • Other Internet Service Providers
Access to CSU Chico email, web, library, and other electronic resources is also available using Internet connection provided by any other local or national Internet providers.

Setup Documents

Many students are able to setup Internet access on their computer by simply following the instructions in the Remote Access Installation Guides. These are available online in pdf format.
