Open/Walk-In Workshops

Student Computing and Information Resources offer free introductory workshops to students. These workshops are intended to provide the basic skills to effectively use computer workstations in the library, in campus computer labs, and from home via remote access. Workshops are free and open to all students. Sign up is not required. Simply drop in. Keep in mind that classes may fill up, especially early in the semester.

At the beginning of each semester the Meriam Library Instruction Program offers various research instruction classes to students covering topics such as introduction to the Library ReSEARCH Station, accessing full-text electronic journals and doing research on the world wide web.

For help with library research, please see the complete schedule of upcoming library workshops and tours.

Private Workshops for Academic Courses

In addition to the free drop-in workshops, Student Computing offers curriculum related computer workshops for private classes on faculty request. The curriculum related computer workshops are tailored to specific class assignments within the parameters of the basic skills taught in the drop-in workshops. For more information or to arrange a private curriculum related workshop for your classes, contact the Student Computing Workshop Coordinator.

Self-Paced Training

Microsoft elearning Library (MELL) is a quality online training resource made available without cost to CSU Chico faculty, staff and registered students.

The training and reference resources in MELL include:

  • Three comprehensive training and reference editions-Desktop, IT Professional, and Developer.
  • Reliable, in-depth content, simulations, interactive exercises, automated support tools, and on-screen demonstrations.
  • Each edition features a search tool that provides quick and easy access to the information users might need, as well as focused lessons on specific subjects.
  • Users can pre-assess skill levels and learn the tasks that are appropriate to their jobs and needs.

MELL is strictly a self-paced learning tool. There is no mechanism within the system to track progress or run reports.

Your elearning resource is just a click away...
