MS Word

The Word workshop is taught only on request by faculty for their classes. If requested the workshop will be tailored to include the Word skills students will need to complete an assignment for their class. Arrangements will be made when this workshops is requested.

MS Excel I

The Excel I workshop is an introduction and overview of the concepts and components of worksheets. Students will learn how to create, use, format and edit a worksheet. They will learn formatting functions and how to design and build simple formulas. They will also learn how to use cell references to reorganize data. Students will learn Excel's most common built-in functions, understand relative and absolute addressing, use and change the AutoCalculated display.

MS Excel II

The Excel II workshop will use and build on many of the skills students have learned in Excel I, such as, the worksheet, menus, keyboard, cells, formulas and functions. Students will plan, create, design and edit a chart using the Chart tool and Chart gallery. They will learn how to enhance a chart using titles, legends, annotations, arrows and WordArt. They will also learn how to save and print a chart.

MS PowerPoint

The Power Point workshop will teach students how to create a simple Power Point presentation from a template, by using AutoContent Wizard and by using existing slides. Students will learn to modify, format and customize their slides for presentations. They will also learn how to create hyperlinks and to format a PowerPoint presentation for the Web. They will learn printing techniques, how to deliver their presentation as well as how to manage their PowerPoint presentation files.

Beginning HTML and UNIX

Beginning HTML and UNIX workshop covers a brief overview of how to make a web page using HTML on the UNIX system. Simple HTML coding will be covered to show students how to create, format and edit a web page. Students will also learn basic UNIX commands, directory navigation, and file permissions.

Photoshop I

The Photoshop I workshop is an introduction and overview of the Photoshop window, learning what is in the Photoshop toolbox and how to navigate the menus. Students will learn how to use the edit, image and layers menus. They will learn how to work with pixels, manage RCB, Index & CMYK color as well as learn about resolution and the difference between displayed and printed color.

Photoshop II

Photoshop II workshop will review and use some of the same skills students learned in Photoshop I, but will go into more depth. Students will learn how to set preferences and how to produce ideal quality output for both print and web formats. They will become familiar with using layers and layer effects. They will also learn how to use editing tools such as the Marquee and Magic Wand, plus the smudge, stamp and blur tool.

Beginning Dreamweaver MX

The Beginning Dreamweaver MX workshop is for students who are starting out with Dreamweaver MX. This workshop presentation outlines the basic features and properties of the program. Students will learn how to define a site, set page properties, format text, and insert images. They will also learn how to publish their webpage to their student accounts.

Advanced Dreamweaver MX

The Advanced Dreamweaver MX workshop will present a brief review of the basic features of Dreamweaver MX and introduce advanced web page design techniques. Students will learn how to use frames and integrate tables into a web page. There will also be introduction to Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and their implementation in Dreamweaver MX.

Please note: This workshop is recommended for advanced students only.

Cascading Style Sheets

The Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) workshop will show how to create a new style sheet in Dreamweaver MX which includes learning to apply and edit a style sheet. Workshop attendees will also learn how to apply style sheet elements to a web page.
