FTP (or File Transfer Protocol) is used to transfer files from your computer to
a remote server that can be accessed by the internet. SFTP allows you to

login information are encrypted in order to increase security.

WinSCP runs only on Windows. Mac OS X users can use
Fugu for transferring files to and from MyWeb.

V. Special Info for Student Organizations
You can make a link to your student Organization's folder to make ftp easier and
faster.
B. Another way to FTP, that makes the process extremely easy,
is to create a file link to your organization’s directory. This is the
process:
Go to the “Start” menu and select “Run”
Type in: telnet www.csuchico.edu
Login with your shell id and portal password
(if you do not know your shell id, contact the Student computing help desk at (530) 898-HELP)
At the “$” prompt you will type in:
$ In –s /m3/webdocs/“organization’s
name”
Next, open Internet Explorer and type ftp://login@www.csuchico.edu/
in the address bar:

It will ask you for a login and password, which is your Shell id
and portal password
Your
organization’s directory will be in a folder that looks like one of the
two examples below (with your organization’s name under it):

When you want to go to your directory, just open the folder
You can also use WinScp or Fugu, and the link will still be there
