STOP is the beginning of a grassroots movement against human trafficking and modern-day slavery. Founded in the spring of 2008 at CSU, Chico, STOP was formed by students as a result of Dr. Janja Lalich’s Social Movements class. It has been an active student organization every semester since.
STOP is committed to bringing awareness of global human trafficking and modern-day slavery to California State University, Chico and the community at large. We will encourage and practice nonviolence to establish a sustainable anti-human trafficking movement. We are dedicated to created innovative, thoughtful programs and approaches, and to encourage effective action aimed at achieving our goals. We will also strive to foster a feeling of community that enables and empowers positive human connection and interaction related to this vital issue.
