Project goals: 

Create a method to develop R-factors for new structural systems

Refine the R-factor table of the International Building Code (IBC) through the use of nonlinear dynamic collapse analyses

Personal Contributions: 

Develop modeling procedures for collapse analysis, including use of test data to calibrate and verify element model, proper selection and scaling of ground motions for collapse simulation, etc.

Complete nonlinear dynamic collapse analyses of many reinforced concrete buildings 

Use collapse predictions to determine appropriate R-factors for the IBC

Work with project director and other researchers to develop global methodology
