Get Involved... in Service & Leadership

Bringing students closer to the community, the office of Civic Engagement encourages Chico State students, staff, administration, and faculty to support the local community and the entire state of California, strengthening the social, economic, and physical environments we all share.

Freshman Leadership Opportunity (FLO) is an AS Government Affairs program that immerses first-year students in the college leadership experience. It’s a perfect way to get involved, meet other students, and to hone your leadership skills.

With over 200 student organizations to choose from, Chico State makes it easy to find a place where you belong—offerings include everything from the German Club to the Expressions Dance Team, acrobatics, waterski, and criminal justice.

More than 2,000 students provide over 60,000 hours of community service through Community Action Volunteers in Education (CAVE) each year. CAVE’s student-led programs serve children, senior citizens, animal shelters, Downtown Chico, the environment, and much more.

Campus Values

At Chico State, we value a commitment to service, to academic inquiry and discovery, and to being an active and positive presence in our community. We share a powerful connection between the campus, the community, the region, and our alumni. Small wonder that many who graduate have a hard time leaving, and after they’ve gone, long to find a way back to Chico—where people are genuine, life is simpler, and opportunities abound.
Support Offices & Services

Student services provide opportunities for academic, social, and cultural development. Chico State is committed to helping you meet your needs and to supporting your academic success.
