Inquire in the Study Abroad Office (SSC 440) for more information
The most common themes compatible with study abroad are Cross Cultural Exploration (Theme C), Study Abroad (Theme Q) and Mexico/Central American (Theme I).
All students who choose to take theme classes abroad must get them pre-authorized by the corresponding Upper Division Theme Coordinator on campus.
There are three courses in every theme that students must take prior to graduation, regardless of the theme they choose. Every theme is comprised of one course in natural science, another in social science, and a third in humanities. Students may take one, two or all three of the courses required in their theme, depending up on the program they choose and prerequisites.
The Study Abroad Office provides students with special Upper Division Theme Authorization forms during one-on-one advising sessions and application workshops. You can also find these forms online. They are listed under the type of program you plan to go abroad on. This form requires a signature from the corresponding Upper Division Theme Coordinator.
