Angel Ibarra

Asia & Africa Peer Advisor

As a history major, Angel has learned that life is full of good stories.  Stories told around the campfire, stories told when fishing, or stories told when tucking a kind in at night; no matter what somewhat has got something neat to tell. To him it’s through these stories that a person can learn about himself and others and grow as a person. That’s when he decided that he wanted to study abroad, he wanted to be able to learn different people’s stories and maybe gain new ones to tell himself. So off he went for a year to the land of the Rising Sun learning some Japanese along the way and gaining a renewed interest in Asian culture, prompting him to gain a second major in Asian studies.  By working in the Study abroad office as a peer advisor, he wishes to not only tell his own stories, but also inspire others to create their own experiences and tales. He hoped to be able to continue traveling and learning about as many different people as possible.
