Erica Plasencia is a bi-lingual liberal studies major with a minor in Spanish. She had the opportunity to study in Alicante, Spain for a semester where she was able to start and complete her minor in Spanish. This experience has been one of the most enriching and eye opening experiences she has ever had. She not only traveled throughout Spain but she was able to learn about different cultures and people by traveling to 6 other countries while abroad. As a future teacher she took the opportunity to tutor three Spanish children Alvaro, Pau, and Miguel who she gave English classes to every week, and with who she enjoyed playing their favorite sport soccer. Her advice to future study abroad students is to completely immerse yourself in the culture that your experiencing, because that will be the only way you'll actually feel like you've become a part of your new home. As the new program assist at the Study Abroad office she is so grateful to be giving back to such an amazing office on campus who encourages students to broaden their horizons and experience something new and different then what they're accustomed to.
