University Style Guide

Accommodation Statements

Accommodation statements indicate the University's commitment to providing reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities.

They are used in situations when an event or written content is not inherently accessible, in spite of our best efforts. Some examples include a public event that has an ASL interpreter available only upon request, nature center hikes, externally produced videos that are uncaptioned, online maps that display data in dynamic ways, or legacy websites that are only beginning a lengthy remediation process.

Accommodation statements are used in conjunction with efforts to make all services offered by the University accessible to everyone—not as a substitute for those efforts.

Accommodation statements must

  1. be a normal type size (not small print)
  2. placed in a noticeable location
  3. include contact information
