Seema Sehrawat

profile picture of Seema SehrawatSeema Sehrawat received a PhD in Social Work from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2009. Her dissertation focused on factors impacting social engagement among community-dwelling older adults. Her research interests are international gerontology, civic and social engagement, use of technology, and social policy surrounding older adults. Dr. Sehrawat worked with various community-based and social service agencies as a social worker and initiated the development of an innovative residential program for homeless older adults in India.

Dr. Sehrawat was involved in the Interdisciplinary Center on Aging at University of Missouri-Columbia and worked on research projects in various interdisciplinary teams. The University of Missouri Interdisciplinary student research award enabled her to be an independent researcher. This award also inspired her to be instrumental in the establishment of CSU, Chico Interdisciplinary Center On Aging, which will help support other students and faculty pursuing aging research. Her experience and expertise in conducting interdisciplinary research in collaborations with community agencies have prepared her to lead the CSU, Chico Interdisciplinary Center on Aging.
