Before joining the faculty of California State University, Chico in 2008, Dr. Cox served as the clinical director for a non-profit organization that serves high risk youth and families, and has been a practicing LCSW for over 25 years. Her clinical training has been in the wraparound process, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and multisystemic therapy. She currently conducts workshops on clinical supervision and self-care in social work.

Dr. Cox's area of scholarly interest is in social work practice with children, youth, and families. She teaches courses covering social work assessment, advanced practice, supervision, research, and program evaluation. Her research interests are strategies for coping with vicarious trauma and strength-based methods for assessment and intervention with youth and families.
