Distributed Learning BSW Program

The Distributed Learning BSW Three-Year Program  provides the same curriculum as the two year traditional program. The majority of the curriculum delivery is in an online format with mandatory on-campus face to face time two weekends a semester. The social work program begins every Fall and consists of 60 total units and 480 hours of field education practicum experience. A total of 120 semester units are required for the Bachelor’s Degree.

Each student must apply to the Professional Sequence during the fall semester and be accepted in order to move into the program.

Students enrolled in the Social Work programs (BASW/MSW) at California State University, Chico are offered the opportunity of completing their field practicum in the following counties. Please note that your field work does not begin until your final Fall & Spring Semesters of your program.

If you would like to request a field placement outside of the counties listed above you must complete a formal request with the Field Education Director. This must be done before accepting the offer of admission to CSU, Chico School of Social Work.  Decisions are made on a case-by-case basis by the Field Education Director.  There is no guarantee that a field placement will be made outside of the above counties.  Please be advised on this when enrolling in the Social Work Program at CSU, Chico.

This policy is in effect for students enrolled in the traditional and distributed learning programs at CSU, Chico.
