As a one time pilot program, the School of Social Work will be offering a Distributed Learning, One-Year MSW program. This program is available to individuals who have earned a BSW (Bachelor in Social Work) from an accredited Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) BSW program within the past five years. The applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and earned a “B” grade or better in undergraduate social work courses. Beginning June 2014, the distributed learning option will be available. The Distributed Learning MSW Three-Year Program 3-Year Sequence of Courses provides the same curriculum as the Two-Year Program. This program admits students once every three years with the next cohort of students beginning fall 2015. As in the Two-Year Program, this program requires a total of 59-61 units** of course work and 1200 hours of field education practicum experience. (**depending on program plan)

OUT-OF-AREA FIELD PLACEMENT
Students enrolled in the Social Work programs (BASW/MSW) at California State University, Chico are offered the opportunity of completing their field practicum in the following counties:

If you would like to request a field placement outside of the counties listed above you must complete a formal request with the Field Education Director. This must be done before accepting the offer of admission to CSU, Chico School of Social Work. Decisions are made on a case-by-case basis by the Field Education Director. There is no guarantee that a field placement will be made outside of the above counties. Please be advised on this when enrolling in the Social Work Program at CSU, Chico.
This policy is in effect for students enrolled in the traditional and distributed learning programs at CSU, Chico.
