MSW
The Distributed Learning MSW Three-Year Program 3-Year Sequence of Courses provides the same curriculum as the Two-Year Program. This program admits students once every three years with the next cohort of students beginning fall 2012. As in the Two-Year Program, this program requires a total of 59-61 units** of course work and 1200 hours of field education practicum experience. Students interested in the Distributed Learning Three-Year MSW program must also apply to the CSU, Chico Graduate School. BSW
The Distributed Learning BSW Three-Year Program 3-Year Sequence of Courses provides the same curriculum as the two year traditional program. The social work program begins every Fall and consists of 60 units and 480 hours of field education practicum experience. A total of 120 semester units are required for the Bachelor’s Degree. Additional admission requirements and course and schedule information are in the current CSU, Chico University Catalog and the CSU, Chico BSW website. Students who are transferring to CSU, Chico must meet transfer student admissions requirements listed on this website.
Is Distributed Learning for me?
- Programs follow the same curriculum as traditional programs.
- 16 week semesters
- Engage with professors and fellow students through live webcasts, chats, individual and small group discussions, virtual role plays and shared projects.
- Visits to Chico State Campus two weekends a semester to build and practice your skills and experience the onsite academic community.
- Field placements in or near your home community.
- You will need high-speed Internet access, a web cam, a headset/microphone and a computer with a minimum of 1 GB RAM and processor speeds of Windows: 2 GHZ or higher/Macintosh: G2 or higher.
While Distance Learning opens up educational opportunities, it requires good time management skills and works well for those who are self-directed learners.
