BASW Title IV-E Child Welfare Training Program

Program Description

The IV-E stipends provide one year of support in the amount of $15,000 for students in the Senior Year of the Full-Time BASW Program.  To receive this stipend, students must have applied and been accepted into the Title IV-E BASW program.

  • Senior year field placements must be in California County Child Welfare Agencies.
  • Students sign a contact agreeing to pay back this award by securing employment in a California County Department of Child Welfare Services within six months of graduation.  They must complete one year of full-time, continuous employment to "pay back" the full-time stipend.  Monetary payback is only required when appropriate and/or approved employment is not obtained.
  • Students who are DSS/CDSS or CWS employees on educational leave must return to work in their home county upon graduation.
