Rideshare

There is a rideshare bulletin board located in the BMU where you can post ride availability as well as get information on sharing rides to and from Chico. Additionally, the university participates in AlterNetRides, a free online ridesharing system for faculty, staff and students. Schedule a one-day carpool vacation or sign up as a semester-long carpooler. AlterNetRides will automatically find potential carpoolers that you can contact, based on the information you provide. You are able to contact people using "blind email" and will have the option of signing up as a driver only, passenger only or share the driving. You can find out more about AlterNetRides by visiting their Web site or through Associated Students Information Center.

Park & Ride

Meet your friends or fellow employees at a local Park-and-Ride to catch a bus or carpool to campus. CalTrans operates two Park-and-Ride facilities in Butte County:

  • Chico: Highway 32 and Fir Street on the East side of Highway 99
  • Oroville: Northeast Corner of Grand Avenue and Third Street

In addition, some cities and towns offer Park-and-Ride facilities:

  • Oroville: Corner of Montgomery and Oak Streets
  • Paradise: 6231 Skyway, next to the Boys & Girl's Club

Carpool Parking Spaces

Carpool parking placards are available if you live outside of Chico and have purchased a parking permit. Once you have been issued and display a carpool placard, you may park in designated carpool spaces. Carpool parking spaces are identified on the CSU, Chico campus parking map. Applications for carpool parking are available from the University Police Department (530-898-5555) and must be re-submitted each semester with a minimum of two participants.
