Folsom High School

Providing reliable supply of clean water is a critical global issue.  Folsom High School is located in the American River watershed, which provides us with a well-sited “laboratory” for studying water resources. It is our goal to teach and enhance scientific reasoning using water resources and watersheds as a unifying theme. To accomplish this we will create a vertical team in science that ultimately reaches from pre-Kindergarten to post-secondary study. To start we will develop an articulated set of model-based reasoning lessons encompassing grades 9-12 that teach the skills necessary for the observation of phenomena, the collection and analysis of data, and the formulation of conclusions using the variety of water environments available locally.
