Antelope Crossing Middle School
Antelope Crossing Middle School, part of the Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District, seeks to restructure and refine the Social Studies curriculum with an emphasis on critical reading, analytical writing and historical thought. Students of the 21st century need to be savvy in thought, research and communication. By increasing the use of primary source documents, learning more advanced technology skills, reflecting via a variety of assessments, and encompassing the writing process more fully, we hope our students will become increasingly savvy for high school and beyond. To accomplish our goals, our professional development will involve learning from Mini DBQ’s workshops to Digital Technology to Historical Travel (national history conferences). We are excited that our students will be able to approach exploring the past with a variety of multi-media that reflects many voices of a time period. This exploration should lead to a vibrant dialogue of application to their world today.
