Chico Unified School District
The Chico Unified School District Teacher Librarians have created a project called "Oh, the Places We'll Go with Web 2.0 and Literacy in Tow!" Our goal with this project is to bring new Web 2.0 tools into our K-12 schools. We plan to accomplish this by learning new technologies and training classroom teachers via in-services and one-on-one lesson planning. This will allow us to augment existing collaborative units and create new ones which will combine the technologies we currently have with the new cutting-edge ones we master. Students will learn to merge print resources with online tools in order to take advantage of the very best instructional strategies available. Our focus will be on best practices in the field, and gaining innovative new means to easily integrate these into content areas. We will be using Bloom's taxonomy as a guideline for the needs of each lesson, because it is our belief that the alignment of print and online research tools can best allow students to access, organize and explore information. Ultimately, our aim is to bring the 21st century into our libraries and school classrooms so that we can meet students in the digital realm in which they live.
