2012 - 2013 General Scholarships
General Scholarship information for the 2012-2013 academic year.
Hello all-
As your friendly neighborhood Scholarship Chair, I wanted to alert you to the approaching deadline to apply for scholarships for the 2012-2013 academic year. We offer several scholarships each year to help fund your education and there are a few steps to make yourself eligible for these:
1. You must apply with the university for scholarship - to do that go to CSU Chico Scholarships.
You MUST APPLY by DEC 15, 2011 to be eligible for the coming year!
To be considered eligible for scholarhip you must have a minimum 2.0 GPA (some require higher) and you must be a full-time student enrolled for 12 units of credit!
You will need your Chico State ID, your written statement, and an audition which will occur at the beginning of next semester. If you are applying for scholarship for your minor or double major you might have other requirements so check with those departments!!!
Some scholarships require that recipients demonstrate financial need. In order to be considered for need-based scholarships, you must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2012 - 2013 academic year. If you are selected as a recipient of a need-based scholarship, your need will be verified prior to any funds being disbursed. Go to Steps to Financial Aid for help with this!
2. Instead of the letter of recommendation you MUST audition and/or present a portfolio (we do have a handful of you who do both!).
The scholarship auditions will be held on February 18, 2012. There will be more information about this at the beginning of next semester. We have scholarships in design/tech as well as in theatre and in musical theatre and the audition/portolio allows us to ascertain how we can award the monies.
That's it....so please - apply and then remember to sign-up for the audition! We don't automatically sign people up for the audition - this is your responsibility!
Finally - there are other avenues for funding besides the department - you can check types of scholarships to begin your search and to make sure you are aware of the various offerings from the university as well as the department!
