Twelfth Night begins where the film Shakespeare
in Love ends. Twins Viola and Sebastian are the
sole survivors of a shipwreck off the coast of a strange,
foreign land. They are separated, washed ashore on
distant beaches with only the clothes on their backs
and make the best of their tenuous situations among
the locals, each assuming and mourning the other's
certain death. Out of this seemingly dire predicament,
Shakespeare fashioned one of his most popular and delightful
comedies of mistaken identity, masquerade, and misdirected
love leading to a celebration of self–discovery
and a happy–ever–after (almost) ending.
