Workshop Descriptions

Make Your Syllabus Accessible in MS Word

In this one hour workshop, we'll use the accessibility features of Microsoft Word to make course syllabi more accessible to all students. You should bring a copy of a course syllabus in MS Word format to edit and improve. An accessible syllabus checklist, complete software tutorials and more information about the responsibility of faculty to provide accessible documents are available on our Accessibility page.

Wimba Classroom

This hour-long workshop offers participants the necessary information needed to run a virtual classroom with audio, video, chat, and PowerPoint. Wimba Classroom allows the presenters to display content materials in a virtual classroom setting where students can synchronously watch and listen to a lecture live from a distance or access a pre-recorded session. This technology is currently being used on campus in distance education classes as well as an add-on for virtual office hours and communication. This workshop is available to all CSU, Chico faculty and staff who have access to a Vista Class section.

Wimba Voice Presentation

This hour-long workshop offers participants the opportunity to learn to create an orally annotated presentation or guided web tour.  Available as part of the Wimba Voice Suite and already integrated in Vista, Voice Presentation allows faculty or students to present web content accompanied by voice narration. This workshop is available to all CSU, Chico faculty and staff who have access to a Vista Class section.

Wimba Podcaster

The  hour-long Wimba Podcaster Workshop will demonstrate to participants how to author portable audio recordings. The Wimba Podcaster is a complete, start-to-finish podcasting application that allows faculty to record lectures or other content. Attendees of this workshop will learn how to publish audio content and distribute it via Blackboard Vista. This workshop is available to all CSU, Chico faculty and staff who have access to a Vista Class section.

Using Clickers to Engage Your Classroom

Learn what is necessary to add TurningPoint to your classes. We'll cover how to access the software and an introduction to polling, participant lists, and reporting.
