In this one hour workshop, we'll use the accessibility features of Microsoft Word to make course syllabi more accessible to all students. You should bring a copy of a course syllabus in MS Word format to edit and improve. An accessible syllabus checklist, complete software tutorials and more information about the responsibility of faculty to provide accessible documents are available on our Accessibility page.
This hour-long workshop offers participants the necessary information needed to run a virtual classroom with audio, video, chat, and PowerPoint. Blackboard Collaborate allows the presenter to display content materials in a virtual classroom setting where students can synchronously watch and listen to a lecture live from a distance or access a pre-recorded session; students can also participate with two-way audio and video using their webcam. This technology is currently being used on campus in distance education classes as well as an add-on for virtual office hours and communication. This workshop is available to all CSU, Chico faculty and staff who have access to a Bb Learn course section.
Learn what is necessary to add iClickers to your classes. We'll cover how to access the software and an introduction to polling, participant lists, and reporting. We'll discuss best practices and things to consider when implementing clickers. The ability to stream media from within Blackboard Learn opens up a new set of engaging teaching possibilities, from integration of video materials to enabling video assignments and sharing of student and faculty created videos. Tools covered include Kaltura Media and YouTube. Please join us for this one-hour workshop to learn more about integrating video into your curriculum.
Google Drive is an online collaborative office-like suite including a word processor (Docs), spreadsheet, and a presentation tool that faculty and students can use to collaborate and present content. This hour-long workshop is open to all CSU, Chico faculty and staff.
Twitter, a very popular instant messaging system that lets a person send brief text messages to a list of followers, is now being used educationally. This hour-long hands-on workshop will teach participants how to create an account, add contacts and begin tweeting professionally. This workshop is applicable to all CSU, Chico faculty and staff who want to communicate in a modern and innovative fashion.
