Broadly speaking, a conflict of interest arises when you pursue your personal financial interests over your institution's or the public's interests. Conflicts of interest pose some of the most complex ethical dilemmas a CSU employee can face. This course will familiarize you with a few of the policies, laws, and guidelines that can help you navigate these difficult situations.

Who?

Employees in Designated Positions.

What? Broadly speaking, a conflict of interest arises when you pursue your personal financial interests over your institution's or the public's interests. Conflicts of interest pose some of the most complex ethical dilemmas a CSU employee can face. This course will familiarize you with a few of the policies, laws, and guidelines that can help you navigate these difficult situations.
Why? California State law mandates that employees who must file a Statement of Economic Interest Form (FPPC Form 700), or designated employees, must take an ethics training every two years or within six months of first assuming their designated position. Designated Employees are likely to encounter decisions where a conflict of interest might arise.
Length? Approximately 50 minutes
Frequency: Every 2 years.
