Online Training for Employees

Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) facilitates the following training:

Required of All Employees

Additional Training May be Required for Some Positions

Due to the numerous different job tasks and classifications on campus, additional training may be required by different regulatory agencies, e.g. OSHA, or EPA.  Some of the additional training assignments will be done automatically depending on your classification or department; however, some may need to be assigned by your supervisor or EHS.  Examples of additional training requirements would be Defensive Driver Training for employees that operate vehicles as part of their employment or Hazard Communication Training for employees who work with chemicals.

CSU - Chico Emergency Management Orientation (was Emergency Preparedness)

Title: CSU - Chico Emergency Management Orientation
Who? All CSU employees are required to complete this training
What? The emergency management orientation includes procedures to address emergency preparedness. More information is available at the Emergency Preparedness web site, or by contacting Yvette Streeter, Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, (530) 898-5126.
Why? Required by CSU EO 1056
Length? 20 minutes
How?

Emergency Action Plan

Title: Emergency Action Plan
Who? All CSU employees are required to complete this training
What? This training is required one-time during the course of your employment by Cal-OSHA. However, if rules, regulations, or programmatic changes were to occur, you will be required to retake this module with an explanation of the changes. The Emergency Action Plan is presented to employees to give them a basic understanding of what to do in the event of many different types of emergencies. Fire Prevention Plan

Title: Fire Prevention Plan
Who? All CSU employees are required to complete this training
What? This training is required one-time during the course of your Chico State employment by Cal-OSHA. The purpose of the Fire Prevention Plan is to serve as a supplement to California State University, Chico’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and must be used in conjunction with the IIPP. The Fire Prevention Plan establishes safe work practices and procedures and provides information which is necessary to ensure that members of the University community are knowledgeable in ways in which to recognize fire hazards and prevent fires. General Safety

Title: General Safety
Who? All CSU employees are required to complete this training
What? This training is required one-time during the course of your employment. However, if rules, regulations, or programmatic changes were to occur, you will be required to retake this module with an explanation of the changes. In accordance with California Labor Code and California Code of Regulations, Title 8, California State University, Chico has developed and implemented a comprehensive Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) to adhere to the requirements set-forth, and to make every effort to maintain a healthy and safe work environment for faculty, staff, students, visiting contractors, and visitors to our campus. Defensive Driver Training

Title: Defensive Driver Training
Who? Necessary for most CSU Employees
What? The Office of Vehicle Reservations offers the two-hour course on a weekly basis for faculty, staff, and student employees. To view available times and register for the DDT training, please contact Environmental Health & Safety at 530-898-5126 for more information.
Why? The CSU Vehicle Use Policy requires that employees complete a Defensive Driver Training (DDT) course every four years to drive a state vehicle or privately-owned vehicle on state business.
Length? Approximately 2 hours
How?

Hazardous Communication

Title: Hazardous Communication
Who? Required for some positions
What? Hazard Communication training is required for employees who work with chemical products by Cal/OSHA to give the employees and the employer their rights and responsibilities when using chemicals.
