During this overview of unconscious bias and its impact on the hiring process, you will be provided tools and strategies for ensuring that the best candidates apply and are hired for open positions. Time for discussion and opportunities to practice implementing the strategies are included in the workshop.

Workshop formerly known as: “Strategies for Avoiding Unconscious Bias in the Hiring Process” Workshop enrollees are encouraged to complete an online exercise in preparation to the workshop: Implicit Association Test (IAT)

Instructor(s): Dr. Robert Jones (Faculty, Philosophy Department) and Beverly Gentry (Manager, Professional Development)

Audience: Campus employees interested in, or responsible for, hiring personnel. Targeted towards faculty and staff search committee chairs, as well as anyone serving on search committees or interested in best practices towards hiring the best candidate for an open position.
