“During the course of my freshman year I became involved in Educational Talent Search (ETS).  For four years I served and worked with ETS representatives who helped me follow the right path.  Opportunities flourished the moment I began participating in the program and never did I realize how much of an advantage I would have by being in the program.  Thanks to ETS I was able to participate in the Upward Bound Math & Science Program at San Diego State University where I also had the chance to get an internship in one of the campus science labs.  Through program fundraising I was awarded the ETS senior scholarship. I also received the Gates Millennium Scholarship.  I feel very prepared and set on what I want to do in life thanks to ETS.  All things considered, my future seems limitless because UC Berkeley is my next adventure.”

"Educational Talent Search has helped us expand our knowledge about college life.  We attended monthly workshops that helped us with financial aid and the college application process. ETS has expanded our knowledge, and we are confident that we are ready for the real world."

“ETS is easily the greatest thing that has happened to me.  Being in this program has helped me grow in ways unimaginable.  Upon being admitted to ETS, I wasn’t sure where I was going to go nor did I care.  As I became more comfortable with ETS, I started to take hold of the opportunities the program presented.  The greatest opportunity to come my way was a chance to participate in the Upward Bound Math & Science Program at UC Berkeley.  The time away from home, family and friends allowed me to mature into a responsible, focused and goal-oriented young man.  I thank ETS for providing me the opportunity.  I also thank the program for the monthly workshops and topics that kept me focused.  I hope future generations can benefit from ETS as much as I have.”

“Educational Talent Search has influenced me to meet deadlines during the college application process.  The program has helped me become aware of things that I had no clue about before becoming a participant.  If it wasn’t for ETS I probably would not be going to college because I never really knew where to start.  I recommend this program to every student even if they think they don’t want to go to college because ETS might just change their mind.”

“The Educational Talent Search program provided reassurance and self-confidence for the future. The thing that really impresses me about this program is how organized they are and how they get right to the point.  From the first time I met my advisor in the ninth grade, he said, “you’re here today because of one and one thing only, that is, getting into college, and my purpose here is to see you reach that goal.” From that moment I knew this program was unique.  The ETS program really educated me about colleges, what classes to take, the minimum requirements for college admissions and the different career possibilities in the real world.  The best thing they provided me with was the college visitation trips.  I really didn’t know what colleges were like until the first time I was on a college campus.  This experience was incredible and I knew that I wanted to be there.  This past summer, I received the full college experience as I attended a six week Upward Bound Math & Science program at San Diego State University.  At the end of the summer, I gained copious amounts of knowledge that carried over to my regular school. I am grateful for every opportunity that comes my way. In conclusion everything listed above drives me to reach higher peaks and keeps me hungry for knowledge.”

“I’ve been in the ETS Program for four years and it has really helped me to be informed about college related information.  The workshops allowed me to ask questions and know exactly what I need to do in order to transition to college.”

“Chico ETS is a very good program.  It has helped me by making sure I have everything ready for college.  Even though I am going into the military, I have taken care of the college application paperwork."

"During my junior year, my counselor introduced me to Educational Talent Search. For me, this program became like a second family because it gave me much support through the college preparation process, support that I am not able to receive from my family because they do not know much about the complicated processes. But it is not just this, my advisor has been like a father; he is always there no matter what the circumstances are. He has helped me even when I approached him with last minute things in spite of his busy schedule. He has cleared my mind of various worries. He has encouraged me and most importantly, he has been a friend."
