Live Scan Fingerprinting

The CSU, Chico Police Department provides Live Scan Fingerprinting services for the campus community and the general public.

Effective August 24, 2015, Drop-in Hours are as follows:

Monday through Friday

9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.


Live Scan technology allows digitally scanned fingerprints and related information to be submitted electronically to the Department of Justice within a a matter of minutes and allows criminal background checks to be processed usually within 72 hours.

What to bring:

  1. Photo identification, such as a driver's license or passport (copies or temporary licenses are not accepted)
  2. Your completed Request for Live Scan Service form (BCII 8016 form). We do not provide Live Scan forms. You must obtain this form from your employer.  We cannot complete your Live Scan without your employer's ORI number and information.
  3. The required fee (credit card, check, or money order only) 


Fee Schedule for Live Scan Services:

UPD processing fee - $20

DOJ fees range from $0 to $42 depending on requesting agency

FBI fees range from $0 to $17 depending on requesting agency

CACI fee - $15

Firearms fees range from $19 to $38 depending on requesting agency

Accepted Forms of Payment:

American Express, Discover, or cash cannot be accepted.

Rolled Ink Fingerprints:

Effective July 1, 2005, Penal Code section 11077.1 mandates the Department of Justice only accept electronically transmitted fingerprint images from regulatory entities performing background investigations of applicants. FD-258 fingerprint cards will not be submitted after July 1, 2006.


For the comfort of our staff and others waiting for their Live Scan, please refrain from the use of perfumes, scented lotions, body sprays, or colognes and, to ensure a quality fingerprint, no hand lotions on the day of your Live Scan.
