Safety Alert: Robbery on Campus
05/10/2007
On 5-10-07 at approximately 1:10 am, one of our male students was standing on the pedestrian bridge between Lassen Hall and the Continuing Education building. Two male subjects approached the student from behind. They physically assaulted the victim by hitting him on the back of the head with a glass bottle. The suspects proceeded to rob the student of his personal property. Both suspects fled the area toward the Continuing Education building.
The suspects are described as:
Suspect One: White Male, 6’-1”, slender build, camouflage shorts and a white t-shirt
Suspect Two: Male, Unknown Description
The University Police Department (UPD) is seeking assistance in identifying the suspects. If anyone has information that may lead to the identity and apprehension of these individuals, please contact UPD at 898-5555.
It is concerning when an incident such as this occurs on our campus. I am asking all campus community members to please report any suspicious activity or person(s) to UPD.
Some safety tips for you to remember: Be familiar with your surroundings. During night time hours, stay in well-lit areas and walk with a companion, when possible. UPD also provides the Campus Connection service Monday – Friday evenings from 6:00 pm to midnight. UPD will provide a safe ride to those individuals needing to get from one location to another within our campus and properties.
Safety: Bicycle and Skateboard Riding on Campus
04/16/2007
The University Police Department will be increasing bicycle and skateboarding enforcement on campus by issuing citations to violators which could carry a fine up to $158.00. Notification is being made to our campus community to inform you that riding bicycles or skateboards on campus is a safety issue and a violation of campus policy. Safety on campus is our primary concern. UPD officers have been issuing warnings and some citations to bicyclists and skateboarders since the beginning of the school year. The police department is hoping to gain compliance from our campus community by working together to eliminate these types of hazardous violations.
