Breaking ground in August of 2011, the estimated completion date is September 2012.

Compared to the original lot which only offered 100 parking spaces, the parking structure will be three stories (four levels of parking) with 359 automobile parking spaces, 11 motorcycle stalls, and 242 bicycle parking stalls.

The project includes a single-story administrative building facing 2nd Street. It will house CSU, Chico’s University Police Department, Environmental Health and Safety Department, and a small information center.

The parking structure will contain up to 10 charging stations for owners of vehicles with rechargeable batteries. The energy for the charging stations and the office complex will be generated by solar photovoltaics on the fourth level of the structure. The building will also have energy-saving lights that dim when no motion is detected. The office complex and parking structure will be LEED certified and designed to a silver, or possibly gold, rating.
